Ingredients

  • ½ teaspoon ground turmeric
  • ¼ teaspoon ground ginger (or freshly grated)
  • 4–6 whole black peppercorns (crushed gently)
  • ¼ cinnamon stick
  • 2 cups water
  • Optional: honey or lemon to taste

Instructions

  • Combine spices & water: In a small saucepan, add 2 cups of water, turmeric, ginger, crushed peppercorns, and the cinnamon stick.
  • Simmer: Bring to a gentle boil over medium heat. Once boiling, reduce heat to low and let simmer for 8–10 minutes, uncovered, to allow flavors to infuse.
  • Strain: Remove from heat and pour the tea through a fine-mesh strainer into teacups, discarding the spices.
  • Sweeten & serve: Stir in honey or a squeeze of lemon if desired. Enjoy warm immediately.

Notes

  • Black pepper enhances the bioavailability of turmeric’s active compound (curcumin).
  • Adjust spice levels by decreasing or increasing ginger and pepper to taste.
  • For a creamier version, stir in a splash of coconut or almond milk after straining.
